Spoons & Tunes

Overview

Spoons & Tunes was summer event series put on by Park Meadows to activate the outside area of the shopping center known as the Vistas and engage with the community. The event was every Thursday night from June 6th, 2019, through August 8th, 2019. Spoons & Tunes featured some of Denver’s best food trucks, live music of all types, a beer garden, a trackless train for the kids, and outdoor games.

Marketing

To promote this summer event series, our team created marketing strategies that included on-site promotion, online, digital, print, and radio. I was responsible for managing all of these marketing aspects and the budget.

For on-site promotion, our team created a wide variety of signs, and I strategically placed them throughout the shopping center. Visual display carts with a Spoons & Tunes sign and available information for customers to take were produced throughout the shopping to help increase awareness. Postcards were designed for our stores and restaurants to distribute. Additionally, we utilized a digital marketing display located in the Dining Hall and created signs/inserts that I placed in all of our Dining Hall tables.

For online marketing, I created all of the content and copy for our social media platforms, website, and event posts on local community groups websites. I encouraged the food trucks and bands to share our event posts through all of their social media platforms to ensure their followers knew that they were going to be at Park Meadows. I was responsible for keeping all online content and the food truck and band schedule up to date.

Our team designed and generated promotional postcards that contained information regarding Spoons & Tunes. I assisted with visiting local businesses and our partners to hand-deliver the postcards to increase awareness. I created relationships and was able to get local businesses, community groups, chambers of commerce, hotels, and Colorado tourism information centers involved. These businesses and groups were happy to help us spread the word about our summer event series. They distributed the postcards to their customers and posted details about Spoons & Tunes on their event calendars, social media, and email blasts.

For print, our team decided to place editorials and ads in local newspapers and magazines. We worked with The Villager Newspaper, Castle Pines Newspaper, and Avid Golfer Magazine. Additionally, our team created press releases for the local media, bloggers, and influencers to encourage them to check out the event.

I collaborated with iHeart Media to help spread the word regarding Spoons & Tunes through digital and radio advertisements. I assisted with editing the radio copy and developing promotional videos. I communicated directly with iHeart Media to traffic deliverables and ensured placements were executed correctly.

Event Planning

As the Events Coordinator, I was responsible for developing and executing all aspects of Spoons & Tunes. This included developing the vision for the event, creating an event and marketing budget, selecting the venue area and dates, choosing the event entertainment, identifying the event decor, and determining event partners.

Our team wanted to implement a beer garden, and I was responsible for getting one of our restaurants, GQue BBQ involved. GQue BBQ was happy to serve beer outdoors every Thursday night for this event. I acted as the liaison between the restaurant and the city to ensure city permits were completed and approved. I created a map and layout for the town that contained information regarding every aspect of the event.

I assisted with booking and scheduling the food trucks, bands, and children’s activities. Every week we had a handful of our stores and restaurants participate in the event to interact with attendees. I was responsible for speaking with stores and restaurants and getting them involved.

I was responsible for set up and tear down every Thursday. I was always communicating with my team to ensure everything was set up correctly. During the event, I assisted the food trucks and bands with set up, interacted with attendees, answered questions, took pictures, and created social media posts during the event.

Event Planning

I was responsible for managing retailer communications for A Paris Street Market. The market took place outside on the Vistas road, and our team had to close the road. There were about 15 stores that had their loading docks blocked off due to the road closure. I was in charge of writing and hand-delivering memos regarding the road closure and limited dock access. I spoke to every store and explained what they would expect to happen every third Saturday of the month. I assisted with event set up and placement of the outdoor directional signage. During the Paris Street Market, I was responsible for managing the event, answering any questions the vendors or attendees had, and taking photos.

Developmental Pathways Fashion Show

Overview

The Developmental Pathways Fashion Show is an event Developmental Pathways and Park Meadows Shopping Center have hosted each year since 2015. The fashion show allowed those with developmental disabilities to shine on stage in front of a crowd in customized outfits donated by Macy’s. The participants were guided down the runway by local first responders from South Metro Fire Rescue, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, and Lone Tree Police Department. We were excited to see over 25 participants, 15 local first responders, and more than 150 individuals in the crowd.

Marketing

To promote the fashion show, I assisted Developmental Pathways by creating marketing strategies that included social media, memos to the shops and restaurants at Park Meadows, and placing posters throughout the shopping center. I created social media posts promoting the fashion show on our Instagram, Facebook, and website. I wrote and produced a monthly memo that contained information regarding the fashion show. This memo was hand-delivered to each store and restaurant at Park Meadows. Additionally, I placed 22” x 28” posters throughout the shopping center for customers to see.

I was specifically in charge of the emcee, stage, red carpet, seating, food, signage, and gifts for the participants. At the event, we were fortunate to have free desserts from Seasons 52, which we made sure to promote in our marketing efforts.

Broncos Events at Park Meadows

Overview

Park Meadows Shopping Center partnered up with the Denver Broncos. Throughout the 2018 football season, Park Meadows hosted a handful of different Broncos events. For example, the Broncos Cheerleaders and Miles the Mascot visited Park Meadows to engage with shoppers and sign autographs. Additionally, Park Meadows hosted a Broncos Day which included KDSP Orange & Blue live radio remote, Broncos Cheerleaders, Miles the Mascot, all three Super Bowl trophies, and two-time Super Bowl Champion Steve Atwater.

Marketing

To pull off the events, we used our social media channels to increase awareness and to encourage the stores and restaurants to spread the word to their customers as well. I created social media posts promoting the events on our Instagram, Facebook, and website. I wrote and produced a monthly memo that contained information regarding the Broncos events. This memo was hand-delivered to each store and restaurant at Park Meadows to increase awareness. Additionally, our team worked with iHeart Media to create a video featuring Steve Atwater to promote Broncos Day at Park Meadows.

I had to communicate and coordinate with my team to ensure everyone understood the game plan and what was needed from them to make each event successful. I assisted with the setup and takedown of each event. Additionally, during the events, I was there to engage with attendees, assist with line management, and help the Broncos when needed.

60K Day

Overview

I planned and advertised a large-scale University of Minnesota-Twin Cities event for Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity. 60K Day was a day-long fundraising event that took place on Thursday, April 13th, 2017, at Northrop Auditorium Plaza. Our main goal was to raise 60,000 dollars in one day for a family in need. The event included live music, food, and giveaways to help us reach our goal. We were excited to triple the amount of same-day student donations over previous 60K Day events.

Marketing

Our team produced an entirely new brand with an original strategy for student and sponsor outreach. To promote the event, our team created marketing strategies that included social media, digital marketing, word of mouth, and sponsorships. My responsibilities primarily included creating and managing the social media strategy for Facebook and Instagram. Additionally, I was in charge of networking with other student groups at The University of Minnesota to increase awareness and get them involved. The social media strategy included organic posts, video posts, a Facebook event, and paid Facebook and Instagram ads.

Event Planning

As the Account Executive, I was responsible for acting as the liaison between Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity and my media and creative team. I connected with Habitat for Humanity, asked them questions to identify their wants and needs, and communicated their goals to my team to create an original marketing plan and strategy. I created and managed the Snapchat filters for the day of the event. Additionally, I engaged with the community with experiential marketing during the event to provide information on the fundraiser and take donations.
